Somehow the inverter has to detect the balance between PV, battery, load and grid incoming/export, to decide when to drain the battery.
The only thing the CT clamp can detect is the flow in or out from the grid.

If I've understood correctly, If the load is 1kW, and the PV produces 1kW, the CT should detect 0.
So how does the inverter know what the load is? I assume it does a sum - CT = 0, PV = 1kW, Battery = 0 in/out, therefore load must be 1kW to complete the sum.

After some weeks waiting for the installers to contact sunsynk technical, they asked to check the ct connection at the inverter end. Installer still didn't understand and asked me for another photo of the ct clamp!
I took the front off the inverter and sent them a photo - looks like the ct was connected to the wrong pins!
Well done to those who correctly predicted a ct issue
Now waitibg for them to arrange to come out & put it right.
I'm sure I could do it, but I'd rather they did it from a warranty point of view - although with their record so far maybe not
Also had a smart meter fitted today, so we can now get paid for our surplus - once the installers sort out the DNO application (not holding breath)

Resurrecting this fossilised thread to report that the inverter CT connection has finally been sorted out....by me.
After 3 further cancellations of their electrician coming out to sort it - I finally lost my patience with them and did it myself - dead easy job in 5 minutes, with everything turned off and isolated.
Now seems to be working properly - only 2 months since the install - 3.5 months since they were supposed to do the install - safe to say I won't be recommending the company - they still haven't managed to fix the broken roof slates or gutter clip - or take away their left over rubbish in the garden - if anyone wants any rails or mounting brackets.......

Glad you got it all sorted! I completely forgot about this thread unfortunately. I had my Sunsynk inverter installed in mid-August, and I was there helping the guys who hadn't installed one before so I was able to set it all up and help. I fitted the CT CAT 6 extension cable to the inverter, and the pins from the manual were the wrong ones, and I had to change from 3/4 to 5/6 or vice versa, which I luckily remembered reading about somewhere. I'm guessing that's what you needed to do? Seems there are a few different models with a slightly different circuit board for this connection, but the manuals are all the same!

Yes, exactly - swap from 5&6 to 3&4 - manual says 5&6 but the circuit board says 3&4. All works beautifully now it's connected correctly
