Very many thanks for the kind offer, it's much appreciated. My wife was concerned that I would try and carry the panels up there on my own, so she's booked the village handyman to give me a hand with the lifting. He's a capable chap, used to have some sort of high powered job in the city, but this hit his mental health pretty hard some years ago, and he moved here and runs a very good handyman business. He can't drive a car or van now, but he has one of those cargo bikes with a trailer and does pretty much any manual job that anyone needs doing, and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg, either.ALAN/ALAN D wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 9:45 pm Where does the nearly 70 year old live.
If its not Toooo far away a 72 year old could get involved.

25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated
6 off Pylontech US3000C batteries, with a Sofar ME3000SP inverter

If the rail is mounted direct against the wall, how flat does the wall need to be to avoid distortion of the rail and in turn the mounted panels? Not sure why one needs special mounting. Just through bolt the rails to the wall ? I would be more concerned about the panels slipping out of the brackets long term, perhaps that's what the bolt holes in the panels are about. I think i would use a u channel etc to sit the bottom of the panels on and a normal rail higher up.
Are you suggesting a rail something like this?

Re: Thoughts on putting solar PV panels vertically on South gable wall.
Now that I've earmarked the money to buy 4 panels for my own gable wall project, thoughts turn to the cable run.
The inverter is set up in the detached garage to the rear of the property, so I will need to get the 130v from the panels along the house.
The easiest solution is to simply clip 6mm PV cables along the upper part of the ground floor wall, then down and along a brick wall.
Question is, is mechanical protection needed for the DC cables? I can cover parts with cable guard / capping, but when it comes to the the brick wall, the number of 90 degree bends would increase dramatically.

I wire some of my panels to a local waterproof junction box, then run SWA (armoured cable) along the wall held on by cable cleats to the DC isolator location.
