Slate hooks vs. limpets?

Sorry for reviving an old thread but it seemed appropriate.

I'm trying to decide if I should use Solar Slates for my semi-DIY install. The roofer wants to use Solar Limpets but like others have said they don't seem like the ideal solution for a slate roof. I'm sure he'd be ok with something else if I sort out the details.

Solar slates seem pricey as someone pointed out above but the price does include the hook, which usually cost about £10 each, so approx £19 per solar slate isn't too bad.

Has anyone used them for vertically mounted rails? I assume you'd need an extra L bracket on the hook.

Anyone got any practical advice about using these solar slates?

How did you get on @dangermouse?

Finally got new panels installed this week. They used hooks and rails from these people https://www.clenergy.com/product/mounti ... /solarroof, seem to be Australian in origin. Would have looked better with rail end caps. The hooks are concealed by Genius solar flashing which seems to work well.

IMHO a much better result than with limpets as there are no loads on the slates themselves.

Still waiting for parts to arrive, but the installer only wants to use limpets. I'm going to go with it otherwise I'll never get anything fitted!

Sounds like a reasonable compromise after a long wait, is the work warranted by the fitter?
