In the peak summer when you are in excess couldn't you pump heat back in to the ground via your ground loops to give you a net benefit delta T for winter or is that some nonsense I picked up some time back when ground source heat pumps were the big new thing ?

At the moment I can't use Octopus outgoing because I'm on GO and they won't let you have a outgoing tariff with EV tariff, so SEG will have to be with another provider.
Is that the case - no SEG with Octopus smart tariffs, or is it only Go?
I assumed that any Octopus smart tariff would also be able to provide SEG.
I'm planning to swap to Octopus to take advantage of cheap rate battery charging in Autumn / Winter, but I currently still export using SEG due to no EV or heat pump or hot water cylinder
You can have SEG with an octopus EV tariff but its a much lower payout, circa 4.1p / kWh.

That's fair enough, I'm only on 5p now with So Energy - I understand they can't pay out top dollar for unreliable spare capacity at the same time as everyone else has spare PV

All the studies I have come to the conclusion it isn't really worth doing.

As my heat source for my GSHP is a river the heat would end up in the sea.

richbee wrote: Mon May 15, 2023 2:52 pm Yes - I've had an alltime PB of 33.1kWh on Saturday - but the month so far is a couple of kWh per day down on the PVGIS estimate. Have to wait and see.
Definitely glad I have the 2nd battery tho - hitting over 90% electricity from solar so far for the month.
Quite a turnaround now, had another all time best of 35.9kWh yesterday, beating April by 4kWh per day on average, and currently 1kWh per day above PVGIS estimate, with good weather forecast for the next couple of weeks

Similar here, its been a very consistent May apart from 2 poor days earlier in the month.

And the forecast shows no end of sun with some decent temperatures. 8-)
