The bolt is 6mm definitely in the inverter (measured it) so M6...
But the lug it's showing to connect has inner diameter of 8.4mm which is surely M8?
What the..?
Not really good safe practice to fasten an M8 lug to a M6 bolt is it?
Good places to buy cable are the well-known electrical wholesalers, bad places are eBay and Amazon. At one point the very best place to buy cable was to butcher jumpleads bought at Aldi! Not sure if this is still the case. Weight is a very good measure of quality and unfortunately, fraud is rife!Richard77 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:17 pm Sorry for another question....![]()
I noticed a thread with people weighing their cables and didn't realise that there would be that much difference between the quality/weight of cable from different suppliers, so that leads me to the question:
Can any of you recommend an online reputable cable/lug supplier?
Ideally with prelugged cables as I assume the tool to crimp them would be an unwanted expense for a one time use? If not... A decent cheap crimping tool to DIY?
Need 35mm² .. small lengths
M6 --------- M10 x2
M10 --------- M8 X2
Thanks...
I might just buy one... Seen some on eBay for about £23, hydraulic ones. Don't look too bad.
Sounds like a plan!Richard77 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:20 pmI might just buy one... Seen some on eBay for about £23, hydraulic ones. Don't look too bad.
Yeah think I'm gonna go 35mm² everywhere and 200A/250A (inverter max discharge/charge 190A) fuses in the disconnect switch.
And buy the correct sized lugs for every connection.
M6 for inverter
M10 for fused disconnect.
M8 or M10 for bus bar box or whatever I end up buying.
And make up my own cables.
