Myenergi would love to hear my thoughts - NOT

I wasn't sure which forum to drop this in. Since it has a lot to do with diverting solar I've popped it here. This morning I got an email from myenergi which started like this

Hi Andrew,
As a valued myenergi customer, we’d love to hear your thoughts! We’re running a short survey about you and your experience with our products

So I thought ok, I have a few things to say and clicked on the survey. After the usual age, earnings, and what have you installed (everything) it suddenly stopped saying they already have enough replies from my demographic. I replied in under 2 hours. So more likely, they can't spam me with more locked in crap to sell.

I emailed the CEO a pointed reply about the first line of the email which I've corrected above. Artistic license used and not grammar.

As I've mentioned before, I hate their lack of openness. Their support is good, but if they ever go under you are left with a few devices that you need to push buttons like an animal to control. And once your hub dies you are toast. At least if there was a local protocol you could access it would be recoverable.

MyEnergi have been in trouble for a while. The Zappi was a masterpiece, but now there are loads of competitors with the same features and their key feature (diverting solar) is not relevant in a world with 15p/kWh for exports.

The Libbi battery storage was a car crash. They spent years "developing" it and it turned out to be a rebadged Kstar with the price doubled.

I really don't see them existing in a few years. Maybe they won't last the year...

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

They’ve had about 100 redundancies and Jordan herself has left her role. They have presence in other countries but not sure if it’s enough to keep them afloat.

It’s a shame. They had the first-mover advantage with the Zappi being the first genuinely “smart” charging point. They also integrated a DHW diverter into the ecosystem making them genuinely unique. Myenergi then stopped innovating.

There was an 8-year gap where a solar/battery inverter could’ve slotted perfectly into the lineup. I remember Jordan getting stroppy with people on Twitter because they were underwhelmed with the Libbi battery unit that they’d supposedly spent all those years developing.

Unfortunately I’ve found the software getting more flakey as time has gone on and more products are added. I still have weirdness as the zappi and Eddie handover. All meaningless in a minute as I’m waiting for my deemed export to get cancelled :) At least the Eddie broke even last year.
