STOP, DON'T TURN ANYTHING ON!

A bit of snow (16cm) up here has cancelled PV power until it clears from the panels :(

I thought there was a problem with my weather app I use for my solar forecasts. :?

No, turns out its going to be worse than December here, all week.

I cleared the 9 accessible panels and had 1.2kW when the sun blazed. Don't know how long it'll last before recovered.

Further clearing.

I think I'll have to get out the long handled brush as getting 200W from the 3.87kWp and bugger all from the other! :D

Don't forget there are a lot more hours of daylight & the sun - even if you can't see it - is much higher in the sky, so PV generation will be a lot more even if the weather is the same. It is very overcast here but I am still getting 1.7lW of PV generation and charging the batteries. So probably not that bad!
Thats one consolation with my system with lots of shading. The shaded panels do as well in these conditions of diffused light and my NE facing near flat panels on my shed roof outperform the SSW sloping ones.

This emphasises the benefits of more smaller strings and lower access where possible in design. I have cleared the E facing 8 string on the solaredge system and after I fully cleared the lot it finally started kicking out 0.95kW (wow). Whereas the 3 strings of 3 on the Victron that I could access went quickly up to 2.5kW and beyond.

There is a lesson here if people have the space/flexibility in the initial design?

Below is an example of the disparity earlier at the same moment.

Cleared the snow from the garage panels and output up to 3.7kW, stayed there for about 25mins before the snow came back on

That's the beauty of the batteries though? It doesn't get to just pass by as a momentary event. Grabbed and stored instead. Marvellous! :D

I am back down to 1.3kW combined after the last snow drop. Better than a kick in the arse!
