Does it need a ferrule on the cable though, assuming fine stranded is being used?

Has anyone used either of the Jean Muller keto 1 or Mersen NH1 disconnect switches?

Do you know if they only except M10 lugs or can the cable just be wired in?

If not it's gonna be a pain with all the different size lugs on the end of these short length 35mm² cables to connect everything.

Original battery cables M8.
Disconnect switch M10?
If go bus bar route M8 or M10 depending on Amp.
Then M6 to inverter.

Thanks AGT... Seems a bit technical for me though

Think it is M10 lugs or buy an optional clamp to anchor the cable down instead.

Looking at the Mersen NH1 fused disconnect with 250A fuses.. not sure the model number or the Jean Muller keto 1 which looks similar spec and looks decent, think that's M10 lugs as well.
Mersen one looks around the £100-£120 mark though .. bit pricey.
Keto 1 seems a bit cheaper.

Was looking at some heavy duty bus bar boxes while in work last night and these caught my eye: https://www.bimblesolar.com/300a-m8-bus ... E5D0EzVFQU

Can get the same one for around £17 (half price) from https://www.switchelectronics.co.uk/pro ... ion-busbar so might get two of them.

Yes does say m10 so would agree it’s 10mm hole crimps.

The bus bar specification doesn’t advise on anything related to the copper bar, So quick check with the manufacturer would be wise, it says it’s for 48 volts but 50/53 volts isn’t going to make much difference.

The mersen unit may be able to take to battery crimps one facing backwards the other face forward to do away with the bus bar, but that depends on the crimps etc

Thanks AGT...

It would be great if the Mersen could take two cables and get rid of the bus bar requirement. I think that's what has put me off so far ordering the bus bar / connection blocks. They are such an eye sore and would just make the whole install look DIY (not professional looking and "spaghetti junctiony") if ya know what I mean. Would love to not need them.

I think I need to get this Mersen or Keto ordered first and get it in hand to see what it can take.

It is probably a stupid question but 250A fuses are fine aren't they? It doesn't send 200A from each battery at once does it and therefore 400A goes through? As in parallel it just sends power from one at a time, so 200A? :whako-teapot:

Thanks NoraBatty... Dya reckon you could get 2x lugs on each pole on yours?

Are they an old model? Looks like the documentation on the newer ones are M10...

Are you sure yours aren't the NH0 or NH00 ones?

M8 on the Mersen would make it a bit easier... M8 for everything.

Oh sorry yes, they would be absolutely yonks old by now. Used on our boat setup.
But yes you could get 2 lugs on 1 terminal easily as the bolts are quite long.
