Its a far cry from my childhood where several landfills in Yorkshire were found to be oozing toxic sludge and had to be quickly closed and remedial engineering applied to them.

Funny that you mention toxic sludge from dumps. I read something the other day. I'll see if I can find it..

Got it!

Yes that was the sort of thing, I was in junior school (so we are going way way back to the 70's) and my mate had his shoes confiscated as he used to walk through the woods on his way to school and in the woods he used to cut across an open pit tip which was not monitored or controlled. We never knew what they found but he got new shoes and the pit was sealed over and a very heavy duty palisade fence was erected around the site within a week.

Another one I heard of was in America where a disused canal was bought and filed with toxic waste and to this day that causes issues I believe, I will try and find the article.

I can't get that to open. A shame lovecanalhookerchemical.

What have you brought us Moxi?

Just goes to show, a couple of hundred years of industrial discarding and its all still there. I'm all for solar parks on old tips and gen sets running off the methane. I mean why not? The grounds fit for nothing else...
