Don't know about you guys but I find it astonishing that a 500W system outputting clean 230V 50Hz can be put together for £200 and a good rake through the workshop spares boxes. I will buy a kWh counter and maybe a cheap JB and switch but that's it, the rest is just time and fun, oh aye, endless tea too.

Pfft still waiting for my Hoymiles to arrive from Germany.. alas, I think the problem isnt with our German friends but a bit of extra paperwork to do 'somewhere' in the UK - been sitting there since Wed <sigh>

I got mine pretty quick from off-grid but I am expecting a delayed slap in the face in respect of ....you owe us X amount of tax letter from FedEx.

They don't normally release until they have the cash do they? tell them to poke it, they'll add a tenner handling fee too!!

Interesting, mines coming via DHL apparently, which sometimes then gets picked up by Royal Fail for the onward journey.

I've got a Sub 1ghz WAN to LAN convertor coming that has made it via DHL to RM and thats in the tracking info no such luck for the Hoymiles. Hoping that arrived tomorrow, then I migth be able to play with it injecting into my emon DB for stats.

Mine was rapid delivery, only a few days. I am fully expecting a taxation afterthought though....

I have asked off grid if they can open a Hoymiles enduser account for me to log into and see production.

That is astonishing Iain, really puts it into perspective. When I saw the first panel kicking out near to 5A I felt great! I hope you are doing OK?

Good way to do it. The other would be next time in Holland just set it up. All you need is the unit serial no. I now access the dtu as they call the HMS800 directly through the toolkit in the app. We broke 40kWh generated milestone today.

My tax letter came in a week after the microinverter. Oh yeah, I set up as an installer for what it's worth.

No1's place consumed 28kWh off peak and 37kWh on peak power for Sept 23.

Last year he was 75kWh off peak and 32kWh on peak power for Sept 22.

That's a combined drop from 107kWh to 65kWh which near as damn it matches his solar take (38kWh) with the Hoymiles.

Playing for small figures right enough yet that is a 39% drop in his power consumption from grid and it wasn't a full month.

Had an interesting day making up rails out of scarfed & glued scrap, worked out ok and they are now on. While up there i realised that a cherry tree (serious dense hardwood) was going to have to be cut or it could burst the panels. A quick change of direction and tools and before you could say 'arggghhhh, the horror'!!!! we got the worst part down. Thank Jebus for battery extendable chainsaws and my own daftness. You can see the impact marks on the roof when I felled it. De branched and a hinge cut too with rope to steer. Cheery trees are scary heavy and impactful.
