No DC should be direct from the panels to the meter and the inverter whether enphase ot Hoymiles won't output unless they have a AC signal from the mains.

I Hope this helps. Sit down and do a wee pencil line drawing then follow it, works for me, Ole!!
Thanks😁
Yes I did mean the ac power from the inverter rather than direct dc from the panels. I knew what I meant😝
I went back & changed the wiring back to IN from the inverter rather than IN from the mains, and it does nothing at all - so looks like I will need a different energy monitor thingy - doh!

I bought this one - I was seduced by the WiFi and app connection to avoid having to go & collect data😜. Think I paid £32, its gone up!

I'm now thinking that this one is what I need, with bidirectional energy monitoring & wifi/app

Tequila sounds like an excellent plan - maybe not quite right in chilly northern uk😁
It seems that your one is ' just' a meter, but all the WiFi & app enabled products, also seem to switch on/off with timers etc

So...my next question is can I work out how much is used by the house / charging the batteries / exporting? For my excel sheet which records PV output, house Load, export, Import, cost savings etc

I have the new energy monitor with nice little app, which tells me current power, current kWh and graphs of both for the Hoymiles PV - so I can see how much the new panels generate.

As the system is AC coupled and I have 1 CT coil on the main inverter, any output from the Hoymiles system will reduce the apparent house load. That's fine as long as the Hoymiles output is less than the house load - I can simply add the output from the Hoymiles to the Load recorded by the Sunsynk.

However, if the Hoymiles generates more than the house at any point of the day, the excess will go to charge the batteries and then to export.
I can't work out if there is a way to tell how much comes from the Sunsynk & how much from the Hoymiles, or my estimate for house load will be off.

It's not a massive problem, but nice to keep tabs on usage and savings etc

Any photos of the new gear? Always nice to see what's out and about. I keep a monthly log and that's about it. Rarely do I export...

Nice to see a handful of Watts coming off the third hand Enphase system. I get real joy out of this. :)

That's a nice setup Rich. How much power are you seeing from the pair? Below is about peak for our Hoymiles at the moment. One panel vertical and the other at about 15 degs. Both Southish facing. 800W total panels.

I don't actually have a photo of the inside bits yet! I'll have to rectify when I'm back at the weekend.

Looks like the little wifi meter app is not as smart as the 'proper' Hoymiles app that you have. It only graphs total kWh and an hourly kWh production graph, although you can read instantaneous power. While I was trying to work out the export / battery charging setup this morning, it was reading 400W at one point. They are facing mostly East. The main array / 5.6kWp East/West was at about 1900W max - but most of that was coming from the East facing side.

I'm pleased for a first day - to see it working and outputting :D

:xl: That's brilliant, I tend to think in Dubai style bulbs for the Enphase small output (13 bulbs worth generation). For Hoymiles systems we'll need a new, bigger multiplier! 😀

Maybe the famous half travel kettles worth unit of power?
