PV panel mounting

Prior to installation our PV installer thought that 9-10 panels would fit on our roof but on the day said only 8 would fit. Post installation it's pretty clear that there's room for one more and still leave ~30 cm between it and the roof edge.

I called the installer and asked if he could come back and fit a 9th but he said that if he did it would not be MCS compliant.

There are a few installations round this way where the panels go pretty much right to the roof edge, so I suppose these installations were prior to the MCS regulations existing/coming in to force.

What would you do? Ask for the extra panel and live with it, knowing that if high winds caused a panel to lift the installer wouldn't admit liability and fix it at his expense?

It must be so annoying but it sounds too late, especially if the scaffolding has been removed.
I’d be planning a second system elsewhere if at all possible.

Well that's the funny thing. The installers didn't use any scaffold. They just put a ladder against the house, lifted some tiles, fitted the rails and fixed the panels to them.
Saying that, we do have a nice big flat roofed extension.... but it'll be shaded from mid-day onwards.

SimonSays, hope it is not too rude to ask you what your total installed capacity is with the 8 panels. I can add you to my not so secret list of Camelot Members Annual Green Electric Generation. https://camelot-forum.co.uk/phpBB3/view ... f=13&t=922
