Iboost and buddy or can you go HA

I have ordered an iboost on my new system but need to remote control it. Just on and off, nothing fancy. I thought I could do that through an app that it would come with now I think I need to buy an extra bit of kit for nearly £100.
I have been trying to avoid the whole HA thing, as just getting my laptop to boot up in the morning without loading Bing is more than I can cope with. However being parsimonious at best or more accurately darn right stingy, I am now wondering if the best course of action is the haha route.
Anybody with an iboost who has an opinion would be good to hear it.

I'm pretty sure Joeboy has a remote controlled switchbot thing to do something similar to what you require.
Edit, just done a search and it is a switchbot that he used to operate his iBoost, currently £29.99 on Amazon.

Unsure what you want to do?
Iboost diverts surplus solar to immersion heater.
What are you wanting to turn on/off ?
Or what am I missing ?

I do indeed use a switchbot. I bought then contacted the company for beta software which allows me to select multiple operations in sequence. I set it at 9 ops which wakes up the iboost then runs up the manual timer to 2 hours. It has worked well for years. I then set the number of times I want it to run through the night. Each run is worth 5.6kWh power into the HWT.

Why can't you use a standard WiFi switch - possibly with a contactor.

Thats what I use with my supplementary battery charger / exporter.
I programme my Sofar ME3000SP to import during the cheapslot and export at all other times. I just turn it on and off with a WiFi socket controlling a 40A contactor so I can battery charge or battery export whilst away from home. When the WiFi socket is turned off the unit thinks there is a power cut and waits indefinitely until I turn it back on again.

Understand your reasons now.
I second the idea of a wifi switch and relay/contactor.
I use TAPO with no problems......

Mine comes on/off with a simple manual clock timer fitted between the ac feed and the Iboost itself.
About as simple as it needs to be imv.
