GivEnergy offering payments for export
which struck me as odd, because I imagined it would be energy suppliers doing it. I saw on https://givenergy.co.uk/givback/
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

I understood this to be the DFS sessions.
The software company that runs our car charger offers the same but you can only sign up to one provider and octopus was always a better scheme

There are several private companies offering services to the Demand Flexibility Services (i.e. Saving Sessions). But if your on an "Intelligent" Octopus tariff it is a condition that you do not go to another provider for DFS.

Re: GivEnergy offering payments for export
I wasn't thinking of changing, I was just surprised that a company which wasn't an energy supplier was getting involved.
I suppose that if they have control of a lot of people's batteries and can trigger discharge to the grid then it is the same as one big battery in a field somewhere.

Thats what Octopus does with it's "Intelligent" tariffs as it can either suspend charging on mass or turn on heat pumps or battery chargers. Octopus gets extra income from the national balancing mechanism for this, thus can offer very good tariff deals. They are also selling their "kraken" services to other suppliers. They see themselves as much of a tech company as well as an energy supplier.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:44 am I wasn't thinking of changing, I was just surprised that a company which wasn't an energy supplier was getting involved.
