Seems the sensible attempt by a politician to get a bill through parliament forcing new builds to have PV compulsory fitted has been binned, despite the clear benifits and Net Zero policies. Talk about yet another missed opportunity to do the right and proper thing.

Think it was, in essence, that several schemes are in place already to encourage uptake. Even though they are not in reality.

Huge oppo missed imv to make a required substantial step change, rather than forever be playing catch up.

bullshit baffles brains - so it is mostly just politicians/civil service bluster. SEG is 0.01 p/kwh from some sharky suppliers.

Counter argument to wide scale solar in the UK is the capacity factor.

If only energy was cheap, maybe some kind of spicy rocks that could be used for it.

I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist. However there is no reason for energy to be expensive what with the price of solar panels and the aforementioned knowledge of magic rocks!

There is a lot going on in the UK energy markets that doesn't make sense to me:
- They'd rather pay FF companies vast fortunes to generate power when the wind doesn't blow than pay consumers to use less.
- They'd rather pay wind companies vast fortunes to turn off their turbines when it is windy than pay consumers to use the excess.

I think you missed out the "consumers" after rather in both those sentences Stinsy!

I do wish that people who edit their posts in circumstances like this would add a sentence at the bottom of the post, eg

Otherwise it does not make sense to people reading the post at a later date.

Whilst in this case it is very easy to guess what has happened, there have been instances in the past where an undisclosed correction makes nonsense of several following posts, especially with units correction.

Yeah, I missed the idea that it is our money they are using to pay the FF companies to generate at extortionate rates and to pay the turbine owners not to generate...
