Changeover switch

I fancy adding an easily accessible change over switch in the loft so we can change from I boost PV to Grid timed.

I found an 8 pos switch but i think i only need 4 pos as I intend to switch between I boost of grid thru Neutral switching. As usual, wide open to improvements. Taken a photo of my killer drawing, what do you (plural) think?

Does the iBoost allow back feeding into the unit, I know that the Eddi does not (as I have one)?

I don't know Paul...could source a pair of diodes and drop them in on the outgoing legs from the iboost? This is me at the outer edge of my circuit development skills (kind of)!

As shown by my willing use of DC components on an AC circuit. Ah well, every day is a learning day@thickbutgame.com

I managed to find the instalation instructions for the iBoost and like the Eddi you must not back feed mains into the Htr1 or Htr2 outputs.
Think that means you need to have a complete rethink on your wiring. One obvious (it appears obvious to me anyway) is to simply switch the heater (live & neutral) between the iboost output and the mains.
Alternatively have you looked at the Buddy addon for the iBoost, it allows remote control of boosting?

Sent a mail to marlec after your 1st post Paul. Thanks.

In the parlance of the clanky, don't want to blow the arse out of it!

You want a 2 pole change over switch.

Input 1 from Hive N and L
input 2 from i boost N and L
output to immersion N and L

That switch you link to will probably work but it would be best to see a diagram of the contacts.

Cheers Tinbum, much appreciated. I'll go find one. Thanks again!

I presume it should be a break before make type (just to be sure)

Thanks Paul, I'll swing past the electrical factors on Moday. See what they havem

Not sure I follow, you want to run whatever is connected to the iboost (immersion heater??) at some time during off peak? If so, there's a function on the iboost for that.

Apologies if I've got the wrong objective!
