May Generation 2025

#1

Post by AE-NMidlands »

Now the sun has gone down I have the final figure from my W-facing system: 580 kWh, 115% of the prediction and almost 128 kWh per kWp. What a month!
In fact this year has averaged 109.5% of the predicted amounts compared with 90.4% for all 2024. This year the lowest month (Feb) was 99%, last year the highest (June) was 99%...
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh Givenergy batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

Last May was my highest ever monthly generation at 1637 kWh, then it was broken in June last year at 2059 kWh.

(nowtyrecord)
This month is now a new monthly generation PB at 2339 kWh.

My energy bill from Octopus this month is a negative bill of over £290  with over 2700 kWh exported, only issue is they have billed me for my import but not yet paid me for export.
19.6kW PV > 116MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 34MWh generated
7 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
90kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 530 m3

Work array generated 1.54MWh in May, a record, which follows record generation in April, March and Feb. Ok I know this is only year 3 of the system, but still!

Flippin eck. So you're exporting about 90kWh per day. You must be 'greening' the whole neighbourhood. :praise:
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

Do the neighbours realise they're living next door to a massive power station?!

Sunsynk system 853Kwh - all time record month
Hoymiles mancave system 131kWh

Almost in touching distance of the magic 1MWh - would have got there too, if it wasn't for those pesky meddling voltage drop outs with the hoymiles system
Solar PV since July '22:
5.6kWp east/west facing
3.6kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter
2x 5.12kWh Sunsynk batteries
1.6kWp Hoymiles East/West facing PV on the man cave
Ripple DW 2kW
Ripple WB 200W

FIT system = 605.6
Synsynk system = 53.7

Synsynk shuts down automatically when my batteries are full, hence low outputs in good weather. I really really need to sort out an export contract given i have 4.0kw export ability.

How is your system setup with regards to charging the batteries? Are you charging them overnight, or dumping to the grid so they're empty ready for the morning sun? Seems like you're clipping huge amounts of potential solar energy.
4kWp -> Fronius 3.6kW | 3.51kWp & 3.28kWp -> Sunsynk 5kW hybrid | 1.8kWp -> Hoymiles 2000-4t | 2 x 15kWh Seplos DIY batts

If you can generate more than you use then an export contract is a no-brainer. I paid £25 for the standing charge and a little bit of import in May (no BEV), but got almost £102 for my export - I never dreamt that it would or could be this good.
In the longer term I should be transferring our loads from gas to electric, but for now it's amazing. Our average use has averaged 5 kWh a day (dwindling gently) for years but the pv generates more than that from March to September.
My "problem" is that the solar thermal tubes heat the water so well that there isn't much point putting pv into the DHW apart from early spring, when the tubes don't do much and flux electricity is (currently) 17p/kWh - but gas is still only 5.67!
