End of Year figures 2022

Just having a look back at my annual figures for 2022. I added some Victron PV near the start of season and also moved some existing Victron to a better aspect later in the year, also doubled battery storage capacity.

Solaredge PV system generated 3,700 kWh
Victron PV system generated 2,296 kWh
Graig Fatha WT system generated 4,640 kWh (9.5 month year)

Total 10,636 kWh clean power generated, every way i look at this its my new PB total and also for each system too.

I've said quite a bit over the year about trying to cut out as much gas use as possible, started in March I think? Anyway, the gas use for 2022 including an active switch on of GCH system for Dec was 1,639kWh. That's down from the previous year of 11,385kWh (85% reduction). It had to go somewhere so my grid buy of electricity was 13,595kWh up 68% from previous year.

Combined grid buy was 15,234 kWh for the year 22 compared to 15,808 kWh in 21 so essentially a 3.6% combined consumption drop and flipping the power use from gas to electricity. A bit anticlimactic i know so better to compare it to back in the day (2016) when the combined grid buy figure was 36,138kWh! :o

A 58% (20,904 kWh) reduction in combined grid purchase comparing 2016 to 2022, that's a bit more like it! :D

This isn't meant to be a brag and as I type it you are seeing what i'm seeing, not done this before. We have travelled 12,000 miles in the EV, bought almost no diesel for the van (say 3 tanks in the year) and also the wood consumption for WBS has dropped significantly. I guess I am lead back to insulate, insulate, insulate again.

There is 14,908kWh unaccounted improvement there between 2016 and 2022, has to be the insulation works and change of lifestyle? Just goes to show..

The Victron system will have a full year run in its completed state for the first time in 2023 and I expect it to closely match the Solaredge system by year end. I sincerely hope that you guys had as good a year of PB's in 2022 if not better?

Last thing from me, I love the optimism inherent in Jan 23 colour and comparison to previous years, entirely random choice by the software but it does show how well the Victron system has improved my lot. 8-)

  • Ripple WT1 became operational.
  • Paid into Ripple WT2 project.

Renewable Energy Generation
FIT1 Array - 4392 kWh
FIT2 Array - 4385 kWh
DIY Array - 1724 kWh
Ripple WT1 - 5335 kWh
Total Renewable Energy generated 15836 kWh

Imported Energy
Electric Import was 9223 kWh.
Gas import was 330 kWh.
Out of house EV charging was 569 kWh.
Petrol used in EV hybrid was 191 kWh.
Total imported energy use 10313 kWh

Energy Offset
Electric export was 1135 kWh.
WT1 generated 5335 kWh.
Total energy offset 6470 kWh

Net energy for Nowty Towers
10313 kWh - 6470 kWh = 3843 kWh

By the end of 2023 year net energy should be lower with a full year of WT1 generation. 8-)
By the end of 2024 it should be negative with WT2 generation even if it’s a bit late to the party.

I have 4,598kWh to offset to the balance point, I anticipate 1,000kWh extra from Victron, 2,000kWh from the remaining 2.5 months @ WT1 leaving around 1,598kWh to come in from WT2-WT9 if it comes online in time.

I think you've got a big chunk in WT2 so if it comes online by say mid November you might make it. :D
Maybe even in Dec alone if its a big blow.
