Not too bad a month overall. The usual autumn & winter shading has definitely arrived, but the vertical panels on the house have helped to reduce grid import by 23% compared to last October.

I'm going to experiment with dehumidification more in November, switching from a power hunger desiccant unit to an Arete 12l from Meaco.
Hopefully that will reduce usage a little, plus reduce the amount of gas heating.

I have one of these:

Essential if you're keeping an eye on energy consumption!
1) The power consumed all ends up as heat in your home.
2) Additionally you get free heat from the water condensing.
3) Makes a huge difference if you're heating rooms differently (warm moist air travels to cooler rooms, condenses, and causes damp).
4) Reduces the need for ventilation.

11.1kWp office system

Generation - 496kWh
Self-consumption - 398kWh (80%)
Export - 98kWh (20%)

Import - 1840kWh
Total consumption - 2230kWh
Solar provision of overall consumption- 18%.

Not too bad this year - 213kWh against PVGIS of 200kWh, but not as good as last year (230kWh).
% solar has dropped a bit compared to last year, but I'm experimenting with Octopus Flux, charging the battery early morning, and sometimes end up exporting a bit. At least the off peak import vs outgoing export rates are pretty much the same, so no great loss if I export a bit

Nowty Towers Power Station
Main 4kW PV system generated 270 kWh which is about 1% above baseline.
Total PV arrays generated 617 kWh.

Electric Import was 739 kWh.
Gas import was 11 kWh.
Out of house EV charging was 221 kWh.
Petrol used in EV hybrid was 60 kWh.
Total imported energy use 1032 kWh

PV electric export was 21 kWh.
Ripple GF wind farm generated 641 kWh which is 11% below baseline.
Total energy offset 662 kWh

Net energy import (this month) for Nowty Towers 370 kWh

2023 (cumulative) Net Energy Import 415 kWh

My 4kw FIT system recorded 236 in October. (317 in Sept & 418 in Aug)
Not been the best of years looking back through my logs historically, but every little helps as the saying goes.

My results for October were:

3.87 kWp, slope 50 degrees, due south, lat 57.15

Total generation: 217kWh

Daily average: 7kWh

Generation per kWp: 56kWh

Daily average per kWp: 1.8kWh

PVGIS: 205kWh

%PVGIS: 106%

October figures

Generation
PV 578 kWh's
GF 333 "
Tot 911 "

Consumption, major items only.
DHW 93
ASHP'S 65
EV's home 245
EV's away 52

Total 877

Net surplus for October 34 kWh's
Surplus for '23 so far 2535 kWh's but two dark months to come. :(
No FF's exhumed or cremated. ;)

372kWh (expected generation, PVGIS, 6.4kWp system)
190kWh generated (51.1% expected generation, measured at inverter)
283.29 kWh imported (expected ~98% imported during cheap period @17.76p/kWh)
61.3 kWh exported (probable 10% exported in high rate period, remainder during normal hours, measured at smart meter)

128.64 kWh of gas imported (40% reduction due to showering at the gym).

Short answer to huge drop off? Trees causing shading as leaves have only just started to fall. I expect this to be about normal output for October. No available solution as trees are on council property, road adjacent.

Solution? Move home. Additional panels on pergola to be considered but likely to reach the same proble3m of shading due to the house to to location and orientation.

On the plus side, this really helps justify the concept of Octopus Flux in summer (when tree shading has very limited effect on output) to sell excess from an oversized system.

Nice one. :ugeek: Impressed.
