Interesting that we're exporting to France at the moment. The operators are probably trying to squeeze every last penny out of it before September.

I saw unit at Torness one was winding down last night as a quick check on Gridwatch showed the nuclear contribution at 2.91GW rather than the 3.2GW it had been. Torness Unit 1 was at 596MW a bit below the 630MW'ish standard for this reactor, I also noted that Torness unit 2 was slightly under optimum at 612MW while Heysham stage 2 sister station to Torness had reactor8 and TG unit 8 still up at 631MW.

So potentially a fault on Reactor 1 that is manifesting itself on Reactor 2 also, it shouldnt be too long before they update and indicate the issue, lets hope it is specific to Torness and doesn't impact Heysham stage 2 as well.

Updated status showing Torness 1 out for "planned" outage but they have not yet given the reason as it still says nominal full load.

Also says expected back 28th Jan so probably offload refueling,

got be careful as sometimes "planned maintenance" comes about after a period of nursing a fault and getting ready to deal with it. One persons planned is another's reactive

I am watching Torness 2 to see how things pan out

More likely that the whole of europe is working together, helping each other out at times of peak demand. Last year we were sending several GW to the European mainland when they were strapped for gas deliveries (insufficient off-loading liquified NG was one problem).

At 5:30pm tonight excess generating capacity above peak load is forecast to be 1.6GW and probability of loss of generating capacity is 0.047 or 1 in 21.

For context thats more likely than the probability of throwing a double 6 with a pair of dice which is 1 in 36. :?

Forecast peak demand tonight is just over 49GW, I looked back through the gridwatch data and the last time it was that high was in 2018.
But of course this is only a forecast. :xx:

I would happily turn off my fridge and freezer during the peak, and other things if asked.

I wish smart meters could do smart things like that but all that is needed is a smart plug. Financial incentives might help others

Yet still no saving session. Is there something I don’t understand going on? Surely these are the ideal conditions for a SS…
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

I would have though so too.

It's also strange that the price of electricity isn't that high either. It was higher today at midday than at tea time!
