We are still exporting to France so things must be even worse on the continent. Gas is running at 24GW and I believe we max out CCGT 28GW so things are tight that’s for sure!

Heysham and Hartlepool are both down - see the Nuclear decomissioning thread s/b all back by early Feb.

Heysham stage 2 also has one reactor off (R7) for planned offload refuel.

Not much coming in on the interconnectors and another 5GW or so to find at peak time around 5pm. :?

Coal is ramping up, there is another 2GW or so left on the CCGT, then there is another 2GW or so on the OCGT, we will lose the 2GW of solar, but we might gain roughly the same on the wind.

Then there is the pumped storage and the hydro which can be turned up a little, plus the diesel fields.

No Saving Session in sight so there must be confidence that we could draw on the interconnectors in case we lose another Nuke.

I look forward to Friday where it looks more squeaky bum time. :teapot:

We did have similar in early December, its pretty much at the max apart from another 1GW available on the OCGT.

And tomorrow there is about 3GW less wind at the peak time.

I looked at the data on Gridwatch and it was a CCGT record this morning at 26.226GW.

Slightly ahead of 26.109GW on 1st Dec 2023.

I believe the UK has 28GW of combined cycle gas power station capacity, plus the open cycle ones as well for another 2GW or so is that right? So pretty close to everything being on?
