After just about half a year of heat pump ownership I am very happy with the output for input. Being from a more solar scarce region than many I have come to realise that HP's are a big deal when the sun doesn't shine.

I'd like to see what we as a group are running. I'll go on an average cop of 4.0 but would enjoy knowing end of year figures from any who contribute and wish to fess up.

To convert BTU to kWh simply multiply by 0.000293. To convert kWh to BTU simply multiply by 3414.

I am running

23,000 btu A2A HP (6.74kW)
10,000 btu A2A HP (2.93kW)

6.6kW A2A here (said "7kW" in big writing on the box). Heats my whole 5-bed house more-or-less on its own



In January the A2A consumed 402kWh (hard to say how much it output). It was augmented by the resistive heaters in my kitchen and living room, which consumed 284 and 185 kWh, respectively.

Samsung heat pump tumble dryer replaced a conventional Hoover tumble dryer that was circa 3kW, new HP dryer runs at 650 watts so in my simple man maths that’s a CoP of 3.4 for a full load dried over 4 hours compared to the old Hoover that did a full load in 3 hours.

Vaillant Arotherm 10kW, 1st years SCOP of 4.12 never switched off and no night setback temperature.
A2A 3.5kW only used occasionally.
AEG heat pump tumble dryer, says total electric loading is 550W (inverter drive) on most days.

Midea 12kw ashp. Not 12kwh, though yet to find a definative answer on what its output actually is. Probably closer to 8-10.

Homely installer app reporting a scop of 3.48 for the past year. Down on the previous years reading despite their remedial work, though we still have the buffer and extra pump attached.

Just passed the the 2 year anniversary of us moving in. Heatpump meter read 10kw 22nd feb 2023.
On 1st april 25 the meter read 6637kwh.
So 3318kwh usage per year.
Homely is approximate, and the midea tells you the total kwh consumed, and total run hours (1625hrs over 2 years) but not total kwh output

Hi Joeboy, great idea please see ours below. I know the latter two items are just resistive heating but just include as only other forms of heating used.
I know A2A may not suit every property but they are brilliant and would enable many home owners to transition away from FF's at manageable costs without the complexity and national cost of applying for government subsidies etc. I recently arranged for our sisters property to have one installed to replace an ageing and condemned gas boiler at comparable cost to a modern combi and they love it.
The future is definitely Electric!

One problem holding up the adoption of A2As is the idea that you need one in every room and that they have to do the whole job! It is perfectly acceptable to augment an A2A with resistive, and ToU makes this cost effective.

I do have a plan to fit a teeny 4kW A2W ASHP to my existing-but-unused CH system to reduce my use of resistive but at 7p/kWh it is barely worth it and it is surprisingly difficult to find a suitable HP.

I've got every kind of heat pump going! (I think)

At home, weve got an 8kW Vailant GSHP that was installed when the house was built 10 years ago, then i installed a 5kw Daikin A2A HP when we added an extension in 2020. Also have a Hoover HP tumbler dryer.

In my work crash pad I had a 5kW Daikin A2W HP installed by Octopus last year.
