Will this crimp tool do the job for battery cables?

#1

Post by SafetyThird »

Hi all, the last thing I need to do with my battery install, other than have the sparky come and connect to the consumer unit, is crimp some connectors onto the battery cables to connect to the fused disconnect. I have the connectors (came with the inverter) and cables, a set of the pylontech cables that I've cut to create two new ones, and need to crimp the connectors on to them. I could wait and see if the sparky has one but figured I may end up using the tool to make up new battery and earth cables for the mx5 I'm restoring so a budget tool would be handy to have in the workshop. Would this one be ok do you think or should I be looking at something more professional?

Any other options worth looking at that people might have experience with?

Thanks.

That's the same as the one I have, works fine for battery terminals, I did mine with it when I adapted the Pylontech cables to add terminals for the switch fuse.
25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated
6 off Pylontech US3000C batteries, with a Sofar ME3000SP inverter

+1, Yes, almost identical to what I have got, mine was £20 but a few years back.
