That's an interesting thought. There are probably regulations which determine whether this is permissible or not rather than technical limitations.

If the Mini will connect wirelessly to the smart meter and also to your internet via wi-fi can Ocotpus not use it to connect the smart meter to the internet in areas of poor reception? Still waiting to be contacted about fitting a smart meter six weeks after I applied.

Not with Octopus (yet) and don't export any power .
I use Loop energy app to view consumption - they take data from your smart meter. Seems accurate but always a few hrs behind.
