Octopus Free Power Hours
Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
I think that's me setup for tomorrow, just need to keep an eye on things tomorrow.
I've reduced my overnight scheduled charge to 1hr (might reduce that further later), just so the battery doesn't go flat before the solar kicks in.
I'll dump battery to grid down to 45% between 11:50 and 12:50
Between 13:00 and 14:00 I'll suck in as much as possible - setting the batteries to charge at the maximum.
After 14:00 batteries should charge to 100% by 16:00 for the flux peak export.

Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
No email here Not that I could take advantage tomorrow, anyway.
I’m on the Go tariff.
More emails to come?
I, like most on here, don’t use any/much power in the day-time in summer, but I could charge the battery or car. One hour is not long enough for things like the dishwasher but if the solar/wind gain is high, the energy used for that, outside the period, might still be cheaper for my set up.
Anything that reduces my energy bill is welcome.

You are right, it is 1pm: It's good to talk! (I have been a bit distracted today...) ThanksJoeboy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 6:11 pmYou guys 2pm then?AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 5:47 pmI thought I might give the immersion a boost, but unfortunately SWMBO has just cleared the backlog of washing from when the granddaughters were here. She's out tomorrow and I don't think she has a load waiting for me to push the button at 2pm! I'll charge my battery (if it can take any) but my low-tech SH won't be needed as it's going to continue warm and summery here. Maybe I ought to buy a distilled water gadget... I'll turn the fridge and freezers down to minimum temp though.
Any other ideas?

Looks like it's a day for DSR testing. Received this yesterday, which means Pod Point did a DSR in the early hours.
(I no longer have a Pod Point; I've got a Zappi that's integrated with IOG)
Also heard through the grapevine that Octopus are putting workarounds in place to stop people from reducing the charge rate to get longer cheap slots. Certainly, in the case of the Zappi, Octopus send a "boost" of a given energy value and then a "cancel boost" at the end of the expected charge period.

We're off too! The best I can manage is a brief spike of 6.6kW when I boiled the kettle as well as having the battery on charge, it has settled down at 3.8kW. Not much sun here today, so I'll put the immersion on.
