Exporting vs discharging …

#1

Post by Lincs Robert »

Hi all,

So, I’m now starting to get the hang of this force discharged activity, but it’s struck me that actually, I’m setting my units into a force discharge mode rather than an exporting mode. It isn’t always the same thing due to House load detracting from the discharge to create the export - if you see my logic?

So although the battery and inverter system discharges at a constant rate, the actual amount exported varies according to what’s happening elsewhere in the house - which is quite logical.

Therefore, if I wish to export a constant amount then with a varying house load, I need to alter the discharge rate. Thing is, I’m stumped to figure out how to actually do it. I’ve got a multiple Lux ACS parallel system, so there’s plenty of headroom available as I can discharge at a maximum rate of 14 kW, but I’m only allowed to export 4 kW.

As the Lux Master inverter has a CT clamp measuring the house load I would’ve thought it was feasible to have the master inverter export a constant amount by bearing the amount discharged.

I’ve raised a question on the Lux Facebook group and will obviously come back on here with any constructive feedback received, but at the moment I must admit I’m a bit stumped.

Any ideas or comments would be welcomed.

You say you have a CT measuring the house load, do you have any other CT's?

If you used a CT on the supply (rather than house load) and set tha to a maximum of kW for export would that give you what you desire. I am asuming that the house load would be taken from the batteries along wth the export load do the inverter would vary output to meet the 4kW max. I know nothing about the Lux range so this is just what struck me off the top of my head!

Sorry, I meant to say supply. My bad. I actually intended to say “load of the whole house” as opposed to what’s being consumed within the house …..
