I suspect if this becomes common practise then sufficient public noise to the regulator and local MP's should get the electric companies to keep up their end of the "smart meter deal"

Not sure how it leaves those affected at present though, I suspect that a large majority wouldn't even realise their metre and display isn't calibrated to the right tariff tbh

At least for the informed we can keep an eye on matters.

The regulator told me that some of the big companies are signing an optional agreement to update but they can't force them to.

They use a web site www.mywatts.co.uk to show what the meter is doing. It only started showing my data on Tuesday but I've noticed when you look at the cost data for a day it's showing my cost wrong.
Did they sign you up for this or did you register yourself? I have looked at the website but can see no way of registering for a new account.

New Kaifa meter supplied by Octopus doesn't seem to have registers I can read showing what has been used at the different tariff rates, only the split between import and export.

Not sure if the IHD is displaying correctly either but don't use it much as the app on the phone is more convenient. Or whether app gets its info from the Octopus mini or the IHD or the Octopus web site, there seems to be too much proliferation of overlapping services here.

As an aside the Octopus online dashboard shows a stacked bar chart showing usage at the three different Cosy rates but they are called Day Rate, Night Rate and Off Peak, which are names that are not used elsewhere and do not correspond meaningfully to the actual times of day so I do not know which is which!

Calling them cheap, normal and peak would be more intuitive IMO as night-time has two rates and daytime has three.

They sign you up. To be honest it's not that good.
