SWA repaired, on closer inspection the damage had not gone quite through the metal braiding to the next insulation layer.

First I used a bicycle puncture repair kit to seal up the outer insulation to get it waterproof, then two layers of self amalgamating tape. :xx:

I’m at Heathrow picking SWMBO up from her 4 weeks in the southern hemisphere visiting her mum and siblings.

Will she notice the 2 new panels ? :?

Sort of got away with it. :xx:

She saw the new panels straight away and said, "you've bought 2 more panels !". :fight:

I said a half truth which was, "They are two I already had, I just moved them here (truth). But she could not work out where I had moved them from and I did not want to admit to the new bifacial ones which replaced them at them back corner. :?

So I kept being vague and said they were from the back and pointed in random directions. ;)
Luckily she was more impressed with the new white marble stones, the dugout weeds and cleaned gravel that she did not press me any further.

The sweetener was also the promise of a new iphone should allow the two extra panels to become permanent. Those cheap city plumbing panels are not quite as cheap once you add in the extras. :surrender:

How strange that you thought of an iPhone sweetener? I keep offering my wife the new iPhone 16 titanium with all the bells and whistles on the basis that once she has it it will be hard for her not to allow me the same value in new additional panels. She hasn’t bitten yet but I’m patient and eventually she will succumb.

I have an aging 12Pro, thought about upgrading to the 16hrs for the fancy AI features. However the £2k price tag put me off!
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

I thought the latest iphones were about that price but an iPhone 16 256MB is now £799. I'm upgrading our iPhone 12's so we can finally say goodbye to the Apple lightning cables so everything here will be USB C cables on the phones, iPad and laptop.

I upgrade my phone every year and the kids every 2 years. With decent re-sale values and a bit of wheeling a dealing with gift card purchases it doesn’t work out too expensive.
Add in a silly cheap sim promotion ala Martin Lewis and the phone is virtually free :joker:
Can’t say I’ve used the AI features though

Mrs RobL is getting a garden office - I consider this to be a large support structure for 6kWp of extra solar. The panels themselves will form the water barrier - underneath it will be water resistant(MgO board, recycled plastic lumber etc) but there won't be a conventional epdm/whatever. That will bring us up to 4kWp (old FIT) + 4kWp (garage roof) + 6kWp (garden office). Those last two groups are 10kWp going into a 4kW sunsynk inverter! I hope it can cope - it is in spec and I've added temperature controlled fans to the heatsink to cool it when running hard. Which it will be.
We're iphone luddites; iphone 8 all round, last of the fingerprint ones. Before that it was the 6+, last of the headphone jack ones, ahh I still miss that socket.
4kWp solar, EV

MVHR, 150mm EWI, 15kWh batt, 2.5kW GSHP, no gas, 7.5kW PV, TM3 + leaf ‘cos can’t insure kids for TM3
