But saying "the government subsidy only applies to the first 600kWh of electricity used in a month" or whatever really does kick EV-owners.

Just had a look, and we only exceed 600kWh/month in January (705kWh last January) and possibly December (I think we may well hit around 800kWh this month, but last December was 598kWh). That's including running an EV (although a fairly small one).
The 600kWh was an arbitrary figure I made up, just like the one they come up with will be.

The point is that anyone with an EV will smash through whatever figure they set...
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Sorry, I thought it was some new fangled scheme they had come up with. I'll return to my armchair . . .
25 off 250W Perlight solar panels, installed 2014, with a 6kW PowerOne inverter, about 6,000kWh/year generated
6 off Pylontech US3000C batteries, with a Sofar ME3000SP inverter

I don't think we will be seeing a bargain tarrif from anyone... It's all going to be some slight modification of E7.
