Hmmmmmmm, the charge did not start, I think because my wallbox charger had autolocked itself. Once I unlocked it, it started, I keep turning this function on the charger off but it seems to keep reinstating itself.

I wonder if it will lock itself again after the first charging period. There is also a timer function on it which I guess I could use. I'll see if its completed its charging in the morning and if it did stop after the first period, I'll try the timer function on the wallbox tomorrow night.

Its 00:32 and its back on again as planned. I think the autolock feature on the wallbox defaults to 1 hour so I still might have a problem if a charging plan gap is over an hour.

When you charge your storage heaters at the cheap rate can you then control when that heat is released or does it just dribble out during the day?

The smaller one is automatic, the output vent is controlled by a bimetallic strip so it closes when its red hot and opens more as the temperature in it drops.

The larger one has a manual output vent and I always leave it closed and let the heat dribble out.

They are still very hot and I suspect that as its such a sunny day today the solar will probably top them up.

I've just bought a storage heater for my garden office, literally it was delivered today!

The old ones from the 70s were designed to "leak" heat over a 17hr period with the "flap" operated to act as a "boost" these are considered suitable only for people who are home all day and thus require their house to be heated all day. Modern "HHR" (High Heat Retention) storage heaters have much better insulation and are designed to leak no heat at all (obviously they must leak *some*), so you can set different target temperatures for different times of day and the storage heater will use a fan to discharge itself as required.

Has anyone got one of these HHR heaters? Does the fan get noisy with dust/age?
