Multiplus 2 48/5000 install questions g98
Re: Multiplus 2 48/5000 install questions g98
Stinsy recently started a thread about Tomato energy who have a 7p cheap rate TOU tarriff.
I know nothing more about it than is in the thread, but am keeping an eye on it.
Eon also do a tarriff that is for EV's but dont require any proof of EV ownership, unlike octopus. 9p cheap rate
There is also octopus cosy, for heatpump owners 13p cheap rate, and i am unsure if this requires any proof of a heatpump install.
There will be others out there.
My father has had contact from his supplier OVO, keen to keep him as a customer. They have offered him an off peak plan with 20p export if he gets a battery. He asked for more information, but has not sice relayed anything more to me, so maybe OVO also.
Regarding the rest of your post, what is your usage in kwh per day?
Ours here without heating is between 2 and 3kwh. Thats for everything..no EV either and without factoring battery charging, as it is not set up yet.
If you have a 15kwh battery and only want to power half of your house on that, how ling do you want the battery to last between charges? One day? One week?
Without a heatpump, or using an electric oven for long periods, or an EV, i cannot figure out how 15kwh per day (plus whatever back up of pylintec and ecoflow) would not satisfy your base demand and allow the whole house to benefit from battery power.
You say yout tv draws 1kw/h?! What kind of tv is it?
Do you leave everything on standby overnight, or switch off at the mains/use smart plugs?

Alfie any time you are not connected to the grid you will be supplying the loads via the battery not only when Agile is at its most expensive.electric-alfie wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:11 pm However using the battery we will be able to shift the loads to the battery ( for the new sockets) when agile is at its most expensive,
Apart from when charging the system wont be connected to the grid.
I think you will find it hard to only charge during the cheapest periods unless you are integrating the control of the Multiplus to an Agile API.
Why would you disconnect from the grid when you aren't charging?

hi, ive had a look and i think agile is best at the moment for us, we wont be getting an ev any time soon or a heatpump, i would say we use around 3.5kwh thats the stuff we power off grid with the eco flow and the battery on a pheonix , my office uses around 1kwh 5 days a week, the kitchen appliances, kettle etc ( no oven, washer or dishwasher fridge freezer) around 2.5 kwh, tv uses around 1.5kwh thats on the ecoflow. this is a typical day

Hi, thats what i do with the ecoflow, but yes i will have to look at ways of being more efficient with the charging schedule. and of getting more solar, perhaps a pergola or similar.
Re: Multiplus 2 48/5000 install questions g98
If you can get Agile then you can get Cosy, which has longer and more predictable cheap periods, it is what I am now on, see here for a comparison https://forum.buildhub.org.uk/topic/409 ... gine-this/electric-alfie wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:11 pm

However if we had a regulary cheap nightime tarrif then i would re think this and probably power the whole house, but without an ev I doubt if i will find one, if you know of one please let me know.
I still don't understand why you want a very limited choice of circuits on the output of your Multiplus. It took some persuading but the installers eventually came up with a way of including the HP so we are able to timeshift the consumption of that too.
Incidentally whether or not the non-inverter circuits are counted depends on where the metering is done. If like me you use the internal CT then stuff connected upstream will not be fed from the battery unless you deliberately "export" to it.

This is from octopus website - who is eligible for cosy If you have a heat pump (air or ground source) or electric boiler installed at your property, you can join Cosy Octopus. If you have another system in your property, get in touch and we'll let you know if you're eligible for the tariff. I asked and we arent
Re: Multiplus 2 48/5000 install questions g98
The point we are all making regarding the other tarriffs listed for heatpumps and EV's, is that minimal checks are done to see if you actually have the tech they specify.
For Octopus Go, an EV tarriff, they need to sync with an EV and charger to see that you are eligible.
For Intelligent octopus go, their best and cheapest EV tarriff, they require control over your EV charger. If you dont have one or dont charge a car, then they will obviously know.
For Cosy heatpump, they just ask if you have one. Thats a big difference.
For Eon Drive, again it is just a tick box check.
If you are happy to tick a box to say you have something they dont check for, in order to get cheaper rates, then there is nothing stopping you. If you arent, then so be it, but with such minimal checks done, it can be argued the only thing stopping you saving money is yourself.
Tomato is not an EV or heatpump tarriff.
If you apply for Cosy, and they actually ask for proof, and you dont have it, then they will not kick you out of octopus as a customer or black list you. You get put on their standard tarriff and from that you can just go back onto agile.

I’m on Go, and they don’t control my charger anymore, due to charging issues with what was a unknown at the time a damaged charging lead, I deleted or edited the account and they have never been back in touch
I just charge from 11:30 pm until the car is full

From what i have read if you leave agile you cant go back on it for 9months
