Grid forming Batteries - mimicking spinning reserve.

Surely you can make a physically spinning flywheel powered by electric motors, so keep the physical nature, but replace gas turbine or whatever ff source?

Yes they exist, but until now, no one had previously come up with a purely solid state version, i.e. one which just uses batteries and an inverter type thing. There are a couple of threads on the hybrid type affair which was an improvement over the pure spinning reserve flywheel.
