Yes Holyhead seems to be in for a very rough ride

Some forecasts I have checked have holyhead gusting above 90mph, everywhere else on the west coast is down in the 80's (just in some cases).

I have good line of sight of holyhead but the ground between us must have some impact on velocity as we are forecast for lower wind than there even though we are approx 300 meters above sea level, time will tell.

Incredible, yet another potential saving session today but all bids 30p to 64p were rejected, Octopus are still not in there.

I'm really looking forward to Octopus being in as we are now having live sessions on days with 8GW surpluses so it looks to me like we are now having them to reduce the gas to get the CO2 down and not just because of blackout risk.

We could end up having a ton of these sessions this winter.

I'm nervous about the game Octopus are playing!

I'd be happy with 30-60p/kWh for "saving"/exporting (on top of the 15p). And I'd be over the moon with several SS a week throughout the winter...

The point is that it will be something like 10p plus base export rate which isn't worth it. TBH at those sorts of rates I'd probably laugh, as there is no way to make that profitable (or even cost neutral) unless one could game cheap slots on IOG. All other tariffs can't make it work short of an immense battery.

if it's blowing a hoolie tonight and again all day tomorrow (Saturday,) wouldn't we expect a free power hour or two? How late can they announce it?

I don't really know how it works financially. Presumably 8pus have contracts to take power and will have to pay a penalty if the supplier's turbines get curtailed, so it's cheaper for them to give it to us for nothing?
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,

If we are having one its most likely Sunday morning.

Saturday is very windy in the west but its all over the place in the North Sea off shore generating areas as the low pressure eye goes through. Agile import prices Saturday morning are around 11p and it needs to be much lower going off previous power hours.

Sunday looks strong and steady in the morning but dropping off a bit in the afternoon.

I was wondering if the wind took out a significant %age of the power network over Saturday in the west, would that complicate things for running a saving session in some way (e.g. if a portion of the grid ended up running on OCgas or oil whilst a grid repair was ongoing)?

The next 24hrs looks interesting here (Carmarthenshire): forecast gust speeds rising past 63 at midnight, peaking at 79mph at lunchtime, and dropping back below 60mph on Sunday morning
450W hydro-electric
5110W pv

300lt hot water tank and two storage heaters
ASHP Grant Aerona 3 10.5kw and UFH

You can see the storm eye north of East Anglia, both Hornsea 1 and 2 and the rest in that area are on low output as the wind is very light there. Also there is some lower outputs in Wales, the Irish Sea and the south coast probably due to too much wind.
Ignore the empty largest circle as thats a place holder for Dogger Bank.

EDIT - Yes Marcus I believe the potential of transmission lines coming down is another reason for not running one.
