Well I emailed Octopus last Sunday regarding problems with my fathers account change over from Scottish Power. Scottish Power had the wrong serial number on his meter. This led to my fathers Octopus account having two electric meters where one no longer existed and then Scottish Power refused to accept the final reading from Octopus because the serial number did not match theirs. So they estimated it and also both companies had different start dates so potentially he was going to get double billed on standing charge.

I heard nothing back till today but they have sorted out most of the problems, deleted the erroneous meter, confirmed billing only from 1st July (correct) and they will attempt contact with his SMETS 1 smart meter and if that fails, they will install a SMETS 2 meter for him.

So email did work on this occasion, at least half of it and a promise to do the rest.
