... so we'll need to stop the house battery getting drained into the car and also not charge but yet provide power to the house. That's a bit of a bore.

I don't like
5.3 [Intelligent Octopus Go or] Flux customers should not manually override charging schedule or boost charge during the Free Electricity session.
I'm on plain (not Intelligent) Flux... so does that mean I can charge during the free session?

Yes, it’s only the intelligent tariffs that has the special conditions.

That's good, but a shame that it wasn't in my area!

Never mind, the solar is performing brilliantly at the moment, giving me a nice negative electricity bill of £2 to £3.50 daily - and that is net of the standing charge.

Aren’t there two types of power hour now.
One for EV charging and one for any power use.
That was my understanding from the brief read of T & C’s

Yes there are 2 types now,

"Power Ups" which give you full refund of any of your usage but only folk in specific areas can get them.

The "Power Hours" were like saving sessions in reverse, they were national and you got a refund for any amount of leccy you used in excess of your baseline use.

Power Hours (or renamed to Power Tower  ) still work the same way except for those on intelligent tariffs who will only benefit from EV charging and then only if you stick to your schedule. I think this is to avoid some of us folk ;) , charging home batteries free and then later dumping it to the grid at 15p / kWh.

Some of us were also gaming a cheap slot for the Power Hour, getting charged offpeak, then getting a refund at peak rate and later dumping the free power to the grid for an extra 15p.

The screw against us is finally turning as I hardly ever stick to my IOG schedule as it requires battery inverter re-programming.

It sure feels like the screw is turning.

If anyone really wants to read it, I pointed out the difficulty we (home storage owners now face with Power Tower) to Octopus on Bluesky. God knows if they read it or passed it up the chain, or indeed care.

On your second point, though it involves some learning, I highly recommend adding some automation to force the battery inverters into force charge mode at the beginning of a cheap slot and back into "auto"/"load first" etc mode at the end of a cheap slot. As a mentor once told me "doing something once? Do it manually. Doing something more than once? Automate it."

Well, someone from Octopus replied. Not sure that I'm "buying" their explanation though.
