Re: Outgoing Octopus
The beauty of that is that you get all of it that matters (£20) and still have the goal to play for later, result!

I’ve had that many times trying to get a schedule before the mic ticks over to 30 or 00. Doesn’t help the octopus takes a min or two these days to produce a schedule…..nowty wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 11:54 pm New export PB here at Nowty Towers yesterday at 145 kWh or over £21 export credit.![]()
I was going for 150kWh but I fecked up as I forgot to cancel the previous days charging regime which kicked in at 17:00.
I only noticed at 17:28 but still managed to game a cheap slot with seconds to go to avoid the peak rate.
Then I had a problem with my Sunny Island, there has been a recent software update on my Sunny Manager unit and it disabled my excessive exporting a couple of times and I had to reboot it.![]()

It’s annoying when you miss out, disproportionately so……

The app.has been upgraded. Now shows standing charge as well as high/low rate spend per day.(In wery wery similar shades of pink).
Not sure what happened on the 10th April!

Re: Outgoing Octopus
It seems that the people developing the app and the people developing the website don't speak to eachother!
Go to the website, select day, and bash the back button 'till you get to the 10th.

If there is one teeny wrinkle in the data it won't show.

Re: Outgoing Octopus
It's never shown it.
When I contacted octopus over the issue, they told me it was a beta feature and hasn't been rolled out to everyone yet. That was months ago... Probably just palmed me off with nonsense.
Re: Outgoing Octopus
Nowty, how are you achieving 6kW continuous export without home demand putting a dent in this? Is there a mode on your Sunny Island which allows for this, or are you exporting with the Sofars and avoiding the Sunny Island seeing this export with judicious CT placement, or something else?nowty wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 11:54 pm New export PB here at Nowty Towers yesterday at 145 kWh or over £21 export credit.![]()

I have two Sofar's set for charging at 3kW each which are only used during cheap rate or power hours, and one Sofar set to discharge at 3kW. Each unit is set in timing mode to charge/discharge 24 hrs a day and I control them on and off using WiFi sockets tripping 40A power contactors controlled from my phone which removes or restores the grid to the Sofar units.
So for that record breaking run, one Sofar is discharging 3kW for the 24 hours and I set a grid point offset with my Sunny Island to discharge at 6.5kW. The Sunny Island then modulates charging and discharging of the battery balancing between house loads and Solar PV coming on from the Sunny Boy grid tie inverters. You also need a SMA Sunny Manager unit to do all this as that measures the grid point with an energy meter and does all the communication to the Sunny Island and Sunny Boys via ethernet.
If the batteries fill up then both my Victron Charge Controllers and my Sunny Boy grid tie inverters throttle back so my export limit is never exceeded. The export limit is a separate parameter to my grid point offset parameter and needs to be set higher or else the system gets a bit shirty with me.
