Well yes, surely it's a condition of the EV tariff that you give them remote access to your charging station. Ditto the HP tariff from Ovo. If they have that and 30min readings from yr smart meter then the rest is the difference.

And now the govt has mandated that all EVs, HPs and BESSs have to be smart so controllable by others, I think there is a 2-yr lead in period. I wonder if it will be retroactive?

Much of my kit is by this definition smart, though so far I have kept their hands off it. Except for the 14 y/o Steca inverter, that is definitely dumb - it has internet access but it is read only.

From memory, there are some get out clauses like granny cables for EVs which can be 8kW if you have a commando socket. ;)
No one but me is going to control any of my heatpumps, immersions or storage heaters either. :twisted:
