1740W Coming off, 6 x 290W, 1966mm x 1000mm x 50mm, 26kg, was circa £1400 with delivery.
3030W Going on, 6 x 505W, 2176mm x 1098mm x 35mm, 26.7kg, is £751 with delivery from ITS.
I have calculated that the ones coming off have more than paid for themselves over the past 10 years.
What a difference in power for not much more area. That is a serious step up in efficiency tech in a decade.
When you take into account inflation you must be getting close to double the power for a third of the cost?

I was tempted by the insane sized 575W panels Bimble do but double the cost and the physical size would overlap the shed a bit which was a no no with SWMBO. The size of the ones I bought will fit the roof perfectly, just a 30cm rail extension and I already have enough spare rail.

It might seem impossible to do that when legally only the smart meter does the billing. At least one other supplier has done this with an EV tariff where the smart meter bills you peak for everything, then you get a rebate based upon the kWh logged by your APP integrated with the EV.
Dont think it would be too hard to get round that.

Which supplier though?
What would happen with an EV that allows supply of say 13A 230v, can it do so whilst still charging and if so might that allow bypassing the intention of the supplier even if only for 3kW? (Higher V2x inth future?)

3.1 Charge Anytime works as follows:
Your home energy rate will stay the same, but the energy consumed by your home EV charger will be charged at an effective rate of 7p a kWh when Smart Charging. Rather than being charged at a lower rate for your Smart Charging, you will receive a credit to your bill (Charge Anytime Credit) – see section 4.
4. Charge Anytime Credit
4.1 All electricity you use will initially be charged at the normal unit rate you pay for your OVO energy plan – and these rates will be reflected in your live balance and on your bill, along with your normal standing charges.
4.2 In the first working week of each month, you’ll receive a credit based on how much of your total electricity usage in the previous month went into charging your EV (as calculated by the Kaluza Flex Platform). This will be your Charge Anytime Credit.
4.3 The Charge Anytime Credit provided will effectively mean that each month your total balance will be equal to what you would have owed if your EV Smart Charging consumption had been charged at the Charge Anytime Rate (currently 7p a kWh, inclusive of VAT).
4.4 All other energy use will be as per the rates on your standard OVO Energy plan
