Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Down to a combined 140 kWh yesterday, nice to be having daily treble figures of generation and now with both GF and KH, probably be more likely in winter.
Nowty Towers is becoming season proof.
2nd Aug 2024
Solar Grid Tie - 65 kWh
Solar DC Coupled - 12 kWh
Ripple GF - 24 kWh
Ripple KH - 39 kWh
Total 140 kWh
PS - Also exported 88 kWh to the Octopus.

Those are amazing figures Nowty, I've no idea what your consumption might be but Season Proof surely sums it up a treat!nowty wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 12:12 pm Down to a combined 140 kWh yesterday, nice to be having daily treble figures of generation and now with both GF and KH, probably be more likely in winter.

It's something I've strived for, but suspect there will still be a couple of the darker months when we come up shy.
Just maybe, when Whitelaw Brae comes on board it might then be touch and go.
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Just noticed I made a mistake on the date (corrected), it was obviously the 2nd Aug and not the 22th Aug.
With SWMBO at her daughters helping out with the new twins, I'm using about 10 kWh a day.
If she was here, eh, treble it. , plus insane water consumption.

SWMBO is back to Nowty Towers and I've offered her unlimited washing cycles as the laundry fairy seems to have vanished and the sock draw is empty.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Looks like 3 back to back epic days here at Nowty Towers.
We are well past the mid summer peak now and the higher temps are impacting the generation but still 8kW coming in on the Grid Tie's and 1.5kW coming in on the DC Charge Controllers.
7kW being exported so thats about £1 an hour on the Outgoing Octopus export tariff.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Nicely done! We are 6 to 7.1kW per hour export even with two young adults there. TBH, I still can't get my head around it as reality, the old export game.nowty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2024 1:48 pm Looks like 3 back to back epic days here at Nowty Towers.

Top movie, Baron Samedi! Sid James too!
55 to 60kWh export average per day.
Once I get the final 1kW kit up and running we can look forward to.rounding off the shoulder months a little.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
EV’d it to London this morning to say goodbye to daughter, SIL and 3 grandkids including 2 twins not even 2 months old yet.
They are quitting the UK for a new life in Switzerland, low crime, better public services, less tax and more child friendly polices. And SIL has been offered double his current commission % as an electricity energy trader.
Not looking forward to tomorrow as we have to deal with the removal men on their behalf.
There is a lot of furniture that needs to be taken apart, its supposed to be a fully serviced move and 2 removal vans are required, no idea where they are going to park.
Then we will have a few days in an empty flat, living the dream in South Kensington until their lease expires.
Almost next door to Kenny Everett’s old gaff.
Daughter never heard of him so I sent her this video.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
My concern about the parking of the removal vans is now real. It turns out SIL should have applied to the council to suspend parking bays outside the property.
The removal men are polish and can hardly speak English and they are just double parked and for the moment are refusing to do anything.
I even asked SIL a couple of weeks ago how the parking was going to work and he assumed the removal company would deal with it.
He is now negotiating (from Switzerland) an extra fee to pay for fines.
