An appropriate bribe has been arranged for the parking fines on top of the near £6k moving fee. :teapot:

At least It’s all go now,

But on the plus side for us, they are refusing to take the wine box as they are not licensed to carry alcohol. :)

Back in Nowty Towers after nearly a week in London with a very low EV battery and the house like a fridge in this shocking weather today. A quick request to the Octopus for some IOG extra cheap energy and all heatpumps are go, whilst trickle charging the EV. :xx:

I'll be reversing the flow back to the Octopus on double bubble from midnight.

The hard energy months continue at Nowty Towers with paid export being the largest credit contributor.

I’m at my mum’s place and her dormer flat roof is leaking. It started leaking about 5 years ago after a storm and I found that the fibreglass roof which is good quality, has sagged and water ponds on it. The two gutter outflows were badly constructed and sealant had failed allowing water to find its way into the dormer ceiling and leak into one of the bedrooms

I fixed the leak by using some extra lead flashing and lots of sealant but occasionally I think strong winds would push the ponded water under the roof tiles and overtop the fibreglass roofing which extends a fair way up under the tiles.

So 4 years ago I additionally installed a 12V marine bilge pump which sits at the deepest place on the roof and pumps water through a washing machine drain hose up over the ridge tiles and down the other side of the roof. If it’s been raining my mum turns the pump on just for a few seconds and then the natural syphon effect takes over.

It’s been fine for 4 years but I have not been up on the roof for over a year. The roof leaked after the last storm and I have found that the drain hose has completely disintegrated in 4 years of sun, so the syphon effect has been lost and the sealant has failed again. New drain hose and refreshed the sealant and we are back in business. Also installed a WiFi socket so I can remotely turn the pump on if my mum is away from home. :xx:

Loving the ingenious ideas you guys keep on coming up with.
Wifi control is just excellent.

Could you replace drain hose with garden hose? appreciate its smaller diameter so will need a bit of bodging on, but should be uv resistant and be longer lasting
