Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
No resolution.
I agree, poor customer service is shortsighted!
It'd actually be better if they came out and said "We are dishonest cowboys and have no intention of honouring the warrantee". However they are delaying and obstructing. At what point do I give up and buy a new inverter?
It really is a shame that Infinity Innovations (https://www.infinityinnovations.co.uk/) offer such poor customer service. The LuxPower inverters are pretty decent...

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
What's the opportunity for mediation prior to a small claims court claim for the value of the inverter?
Solar PV: 6.4kW solar PV (Eurener MEPV 400W*16)
PV Inverter: Solis 6kW inverter
Batteries: 14.4kWh LiFePO4 batteries (Pylontech US5000*3)
Battery Inverter: LuxPowertek 3600 ACS*2
EV: Hyundai Kona 65kWh
WBS: 8kW Hunter Avalon 6 Multifuel burner (wood only)

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Have you contacted your local trading standards team to advise them of the situation? They can often bring a speedy resolution to matters like this ?

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I have considered this! My contract is with the original installer, who seem to be on the case with Infinity, so it feels a bit mean to sue them and expect them in-turn to sue Infinty.
I have been in contact with the guy in China who manages the distributor relationships for LuxPower. While mediating in between customers and distributors isn't his job, he genuinely seems to want to help! So all hope is not lost...
I can be a determined and persistent f*cker when I want to be!

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you with luxpower, an install by a third party. As much as I think the equipment is easy to use I couldn't recommend them to anyone else due to the debacle you are going through! Makes me wish I'd used Victron.
Good luck!

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I’m up north at my mums, I was greeted by a heavy hail storm but thereafter we had strong sun whilst back home on the south coast its still cloudy.
My dad’s been gone for over a year now and my mum found this old photo of a Lightning whilst clearing out a cupboard. He used to work on military aircraft and I was trying to work out what the aircraft the photo was actually taken from, I think its a Canberra because of the very long engine covering on the wing.
I then thought about roughly when the photo was taken, I initially thought probably the 1960’s because it’s black and white, but then I noticed the Lightning aircraft has a serial number XL628.
Amazing what comes up on google, it seems this one crashed into the Irish Sea in 1959 and the test pilot was very lucky. So must date back to the 1950’s.

“1 October 1959 – Prototype Lightning T4 serial number XL628 was abandoned over the Irish Sea after control was lost when the fin collapsed. The test pilot ejected and was initially reported missing until he and his dinghy drifted ashore 28 hours later.”

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Wrong wing tip profile and not long enough outboard of the engine cowl. Gloucester meteor fits the profile nicely though.
That’s a brilliant and rare photo.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Cheers Moxi, I think you’re right as the end of the wing looks too rounded for the Canberra but could not think of another to fit the bill.
The photo has an official stamp on the back, looks like I have to tell some official if I make a copy.
My father knew the chief test pilot of the Lightning and was offered a flight in the two seater version along with a 1000mph certificate. But he turned it down as he thought they were too dodgy.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Wow! And here's me still trying to work out how to get a ride in a Dakota...
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!

Last night my mum was trying to remember the name of the Chief Test Pilot my father worked with. She remembered it over breakfast this morning, Jimmy Dell. And there is even a Wikipedia page for him.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:21 amWow! And here's me still trying to work out how to get a ride in a Dakota...

More crazy Lightning stuff including a picture of Jimmy Dell and info of several of his escapades.

And finally the crazy story of of Taffy Holden, an almost unbelievable incident when a maintenance engineer accidentally locked on the afterburners on a Lightning and had no choice but to take off or die. But don’t worry the story ends well and there is some good Lightning flying footage in there too.
