We got a smidge less than 24hrs notice last time so anytime from now!

Its confirmed 3 mins ago, Octopus gets £5.33 same as last time so expect the same £4 / kWh reward.

nowty wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 4:51 pm In fact if it turns out to be another £4 / kWh payout its actually worth it paying peak rate.
Any amount over £3.05 / kWh will work out better if your on IOG at 30.5p peak. :whako:

I'm going to give the SH's a blast between 5pm and 6pm tonight.
Not sure this figure is right, if you factor in that you have to pay a cheap rate anyway, shouldn't amount that octopus are required to pay out be lower by the cheaprate/10 ie £3.05-(cheap rate/10)?

Maths is,

Say you use 10kWh between 5 and 6pm, that costs 30.5p x 10 = £3.05

The baseline is averaged over 10 days, so 10/10 = 1kW added to your baseline which pays an extra £4.00

If your just time shifting, then the extra cost has only been (30.5-7.5) x 10 = £2.30

£1.70 of pure profit. :xx:

EDIT - Yes Stinsy, your right.

And that £1.70 will buy you over 22 kWh on the cheapslot.

Opted in, tumble dryer on, batteries charging, discharge timer set for tomorrow.

Another thought, that cheap rate calculation doesn't take into account charging and discharging inefficiencies if the cheap rate is used for house batteries, so it's probably even more efficient if we can time shift into this slot...

It sounds nuts but your not wrong. :hysteria:

I fecked up a few days ago and accidently used 3 kWh peak rate just before 6pm and was really annoyed with myself, now I'm happy. :xx:

What are the numbers if you cannot establish a positive baseline but could discharge at 2.5kW for the 90 minutes and do have an export tariff?
