Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Good Energy are doing the 16:30 to 18:00 slot Today.
There is very little info on the Website.
Ref " Customers will be rewarded based on the rate set by National Grid for the electricity saved compared to their normal usage. "
If my normal usage for October was 26 pence for the month + daily standing charge. Is it worth getting involved.

“Rate set by National Grid” is a bit of a lie!ALAN/ALAN D wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:09 am Good Energy are doing the 16:30 to 18:00 slot Today.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
A test event like the first session is a fixed £3 / kWh or in fact £3000 / MWh. The second and third events have been live events which means its based on an auction with a £3 / kWh underpin although in the new year there will be no underpin. The larger volume requested by the national grid effectively mean that larger bids will be accepted because there simply are not enough folk enrolled in the scheme. There is a rolling set of baseline readings sent to the National Grid company every week so they know roughly how much is likely to be reduced.Stinsy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:10 am“Rate set by National Grid” is a bit of a lie!ALAN/ALAN D wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:09 am Good Energy are doing the 16:30 to 18:00 slot Today.

For todays session some very small companies probably busted their bids and only got the standard £3 / kWh whilst a couple other small ones managed to achieve up to £6 / kWh. Octopus know the maths and with their largest volumes of reduction (cos they have more savy customers ) achieved £5.33 / kWh.
However the rate which the rebate is applied to the customer is down to the supplier so in that sense Stinsy is correct.
Octopus is paying out 75% of the cash, ie, £4 / kWh but they get £5.33 / kWh for this session.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
British Gas are running a Peak Save event today. 1630 to 1800. They are offering :
The reward for this event is £5 per kWh saved. And even if you only save a little, we’ll round it up to a £1 as a little thank you for taking part
As i have batteries and it looks as if exported power is excluded then not much in it for me.

Nope, still on a deemed export tariff, as i use/store most of my generation i don't think there is much benefit going for an export tariff..nowty wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 1:29 pmAre you on an export tariff with them ?cycling_mike wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 1:18 pm British Gas are running a Peak Save event today. 1630 to 1800. Axle Energy are doing £4.20 per kWh including battery export
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I'm just doing it for fun and relaxation. A good chance to try out a couple of my Turkish small form led table lights too. I expect them to be epic!
