Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I've got it down to a 6 watt LED bulb and the Internet router. The fridges and freezers are on but they are in the garage and it's colder in the garage than in the fridge so they aren't cycling right now.
The battery inverter is reading the house load as 86 Watts, exporting 6243W and sufficient in the battery to maintain the export.
It's a fun game to play.

I'm not.
1 candle, 1 WBS.
I'll get my coat... before I do though, anyone know what the average GW burn is for gas? I have no clue.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I had a late start, I snuck out of a wedding reception, then got stuck in traffic, then left the solar diverter running.
All good now and its,
177A draw from the battery banks.
After 6pm I'll be sneaking back into the wedding reception.

That is a serious level of dedication Nowty, enjoy the night!
I am sitting in the dark(ish) fully appreciating the caveman roots feel. Running WBS throttled back and it's still getting it done.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Joeboy, out of interest, is that a double lined flue on the WBS? It looks a good 8 inches wide, is it a 5 inch internal diameter?

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
It is indeed and I'm pretty sure it is a 5" internal stepping up from a 4" stove top connection. That was our 1st stove and I've been pleasantly surprised how much heat comes off the pipe. Are you fancying a project Krill?

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I've had WBS installed in my current and previous property; very respectable from a utility perspective. I could have my current one replaced with a double ended stove so it heats another room but all the work is already done in a standard chimney (the current stove has a 6 inch flue though, running through a relatively standard brick chimney which retains a significant amount of heat if I keep the stove lit constantly). I only tend to light the stove some evening though, when it gets coldest. I can't stand hot houses, my wife and I keep it around 14-15 degrees in winter. So it would be a fair bit of work for no point.
No, the reason I was asking is that I have seen stoves with the exposed flue on rare occasions but yours looked a little different, with a far wider flue than I have seen in other circumstances. Maybe it's just the way the picture was taken and you have a relatively narrow stove. Thanks for confirming though.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I’m back at the wedding reception, no one noticed me sneaking back in after the saving session.
EDIT - After giving a guest a long lift home, I'm now back in Nowty Towers with hungry EV facilitating early access to IOG cheapslot and now pumping cheap power into EV, heating, charging low batteries and SWMBO has put on a washing load.

For reasons known only to them, Octopus takes ages to tell you how well you did in the savings sessions. However some guy has done it for them!
