Solar Edge: Monitoring 3rd party battery …

Hi,
Ok, so I have 3 Solar Edge inverters and a pair of AC connected LuxPower/Pylon battery banks. On the SE monitoring app, the batteries are essentially invisible with their in/out just being nett of the house consumption- if that makes sense.
In a recent on-line chat with SE about something totally unrelated, I asked if there were any way in which this could be resolved. I got the following reply:
To answer your question , it is possible to monitor the AC battery system by connecting another Modbus meter and set it as “external production”. CT clamps should be facing towards the third-party connections.
I’m seeking further clarification from them as the additional Modbus meter and CT clamp is in the region of £220 - which I’m not adverse to spending if it gives the result I want.
Has anyone else done this, or are people even aware of it? SE requires a metering unit and CT to display house consumption etc on the app - it’s addressable, so the additional (set to a new address) unit would seemingly monitor the AC current into/out of the AC battery system and the rest be done in config/software. It’s essentially what the Myenergi Zappi app does, although that only shows power in/out of the battery at any point in time, but not cumulative totals.
Any comments?
Regards - Rob
