How does the inverter know to isolate itself from the grid during a power cut?

I didn't do a full charge either as all the forecasts were giving me over confidence.

Its a bit better here, should make it through to the cheapslot but wont be record breaking. The satellite view shows much more extensive cloud elsewhere too. And more heading towards me.

What a result to start off a PV experience. 19kWh in, battery from 50% to 83% and the rest into the car. 200W going in even now.

My system 50 miles north down to 60W and a day's production of 16kWh, 4kWh exported yet with nominally the same installed peak power.

My understanding is that the inverter continually tries to push the frequency over 50Hz but cannot as the grid is vast in comparison. If the grid disappears the frequency goes up and reaches a preset cut off point (around 52Hz I think) within a few milliseconds.

Thanks, does that make it G100 compliant??

No, G98 or G99 (like the older G83 and G59) is the standard which includes isolating itself from the grid in the event of a power cut.

G100 is the standard about export limitation to the grid.

Your Solis is G100 certified -a copy of the certificate is here:

Well I hope they set it up to be largely self tending as she does not have time to faff about with it.

I would like a bit of information about preventing the pylontech from discharging when the EV is charging off peak.
The zappi instructions here mention this on pp 26 and 48 (not 52) but in the context of which gets priority for daytime generation so not really an answer.

As a starting point you would need to set the zappi to have an export margin of 100W i.e. the hybrid inverter needs to be exporting 100W before the zappi will start to charge but this is not in itself sufficient. There is a good myenergi discussion forum here. In particular the links at the beginning of this thread will perhaps give some guidance.

In my own system I had already installed a separate bypass switch for the garage so it is simplest to switch that to GRID before setting the car to charge overnight.

Thanks, it is early days yet so hopefully she will be able to charge the car from PV for most of the summer, which gives me a little time to look into it.

I had hoped it would be a simple matter of setting the Zappi and battery to charge at the same time, maybe staggering the start of the battery till after the zappi had charged the car.
