Transferring solar export to Octopus

We have had a FIT contract with SSE since just before the first rate reduction, and this includes deemed 50% export. We just transferred our supplier to Octopus and last week had them fit a smart meter. Apparently we can now transfer the export part of the contract to Octopus and get paid for actual export.
I am wondering if anyone here has already done this, as of course I am nervous about losing the whole FIT contract if something goes wrong, and I'm looking for some reassurance.

Yes several on here have, you still keep your generation FIT payments.

But its a one way process though, once you transfer the export part away from deemed export you can no longer go back. FIT export gives you guaranteed RPI uplift for the length of your contract, SEG only guarantees something higher than zero. The payments are good as the moment but could drop back again in the near future as wholesale prices drop.

And if you buy a heatpump or EV in the future, you might end up exporting less than deemed export.

I am with with SSE. I was on metered export for FiTs with them until last year. I called SSE they said all I had to do was send an email to micro.generation@sseenergyservices.com and explain that I wish to be removed from the FiT export register. The email I sent is below:

"ref account xxxxx xxxxx
FIT0000xxxx

I wish to stop receiving FIT EXPORT payments for my PV generation. I am currently on metered export payments.

The final Export Meter reading is xxxxx as of xxth xxxxxxx 2022, picture attached

I understand that this will NOT affect my FIT payments for the electricity generated, it will only affect the Export payment.

Please acknowledge receipt of this email and confirm that the FIT EXPORT register has been updated.

Regards"

I got no response other than an automated reply so I resent it a month or so later, with a comment that I needed a reply. They did eventually respond by email confirming I would no longer receive export payments from SSE. since then I have submitted 4 quarterly readings for the FiT generation to SSE and they have been paid as normal, in fact quicker than they used to, the last one came through in 10 days.

Hope that helps.

I am in a similar situation but about to replace the combi boiler and install a new boiler which will still be gas, but the system will incorporate a HW cylinder and therefore more pv will be used for this whenever possible so I'm delaying leaving the deemed system for export until the new boiler is installed, and will re-visit in 12 months probably.
