Fogstar (and general) Rack Battery questions
Have been asking for advice on a new system to increase generation yield, and have now got that right in my mind.
Originally was going for a Givenergy AIO, but DNO not happy, so looking at alternative battery, as no longer stuck with just Givenergys offerings.
Have been looking around and have found Fogstar rack batteries. Seem very sim8lar to Pylontech to me but with an extra cell and something i do like - a touchscreen display. Not so sure of the inbuilt Pace BMS though as seems Windows driven rather than app based, but once set up i can imagine hardly any need to alter anything later.
They are also availible in a rather decent rack case rather than stacked on optional brackets.
Im looking at a single set of 15kw (i.e. 3 x 5.12kw) to go on my extra system, and wondered if anyone has any comments at all on them?
One dopey question i do have that i cannot seem to find an answer to is how such rack batteries provide the power to a demand.
For example (assuming attached inverter is 3.6kw) and i try and draw 3.6kw from such a stack of three batteries, do all of the batteries provide a third of that load (1.2kwh) and share the 'effort' or does the first battery get its teeth pulled out trying to cope until it cant anymore then a second one steps in to assist?
Im guessing they share, to avoid damaging/unbalancing/cycling themselves, but would be nice to know.

1) Fogstar are just reselling batteries from China for a huge markup. You can order from China yourself and wait for the boat at a fraction of the price.
2) If you put batteries in parallel the current drawn does indeed come equally from all the batteries in the stack (more or less).
3) While we support DIYers on here, you clearly have little-to-no knowledge of how electricity works. You need to do a LOT of reading before doing anything yourself. Maybe start with some YouTube videos aimed at A Level physics students?

Could also do a lot worse than look at Colin's one stop box for spec/price comparison if diy'ing it is too much at the moment. I hoped that thread would give him a fast track to thoughts?
First thing I'd be asking myself is how much power do I genuinely need in Winter? Also battery stacks as we know are VERY expandable if more is needed later.

Given your circumstance have you considered using investment in future Ripple projects as an option to keep your partner and family energy secure in the future ? I'm not sure if Derril Water is still open (forum?) but educating your partner about the Ripple projects now and having some cash for investment at the right time might be one of the simplest and effective ways of providing for their energy requirements without your partner needing to know or understand battery storage if this isn't one of their skill sets.
The added benefit being that if they move home at a later stage the "power" goes with them to their new home. I am busy saving like a lunatic to be able to buy into the next Ripple project when it comes along (please be a hydro scheme) so I can get my older 4 kids a share of generation my 3 youngest are 1.5, 3 and 5 are still way too young but in any event will have resources provided for later in their life.

My feelings re Ripple are that you are locked in to paying grid transfer fees on all "your" electricity that you use, so changing your kW from gas to electricity is an own-goal - unless you have enough batteries and a time-of-use tarrif which lets you store cheap rate electrons for when you need them later in the day...

That assumes that resybabys partner is:
A- Technically minded sufficient to manage the system;
B- Intent on staying at the same residence for the foreseeable future
I don't know the answer to any of those questions so I was reminding the OP that other options to provide for some degree of energy security exist, I certainly didn't mean to imply that Ripple was a better alternative (if imply is what I did?)

For the absence of doubt its academic at the moment, as Ripple Project 3 (Derril Water Solar Farm) offer has been closed for some time now.

Because you can pay a £25 reservation fee for the unknown project 4 with unknown timelines. Thats how they managed to raise enough cash in a relatively short timescales for project 3. Otherwise its a repeat of project 1 and 2 which were open for a significant time with folk sitting on the fence. They cannot actually start the project until they have a financial closure.
