New tariffs from 1 January

Scottish Power have just sent me a notice of their new rates from next year.

Am anyway thinking of switching to Octopus but I can only find the current rates on their web site, not the new ones.

Anyone got any suggestions of where to find them? Am interested in E7, Cosy, Outgoing and Go as I have an EV and am planning to add an HP in March, so will be doing some fine-grained modelling to try and work out the most advantageous way forward.

TIA

Ecconomy7 is crap on all providers Octopus is 25p day 18p night or something similar, from memory. Cosy, Flex, and the rest are a bit rubbish too. IOG (Intelligent Octopus Go) is by far the best tariff. Takes a bit of work to qualify but worth it, you basically get as many cheap slots at 7.5p/kWh as you want/need!

Here is my latest bill:

Economy 7 is indeed crap. Unfortunately it's better than any of the other available options.

My EV isn't compatible with Octopus, so an EV tariff is out.

Cosy is the only other available tariff here and it's more expensive than E7 and less usable.

E7 rates 33.758p day, 14.99 p night rising to 35.532p day, 15.777p night in January.

Cosy rates 16.11p low rate (for 6 hours rather than 7) peak rate 42.96p, day rate 26.85p.

As 99% of our consumption is on the night rate, other alternatives are more expensive.

I can understand your EV to be incompatible with Intelligent Octopus Go, but how can your EV be incompatible with Octopus Go ?

The other option is the British Gas Dimplex Quantum Tariff, some hoops to jump through but cheaper than an EV. They offer off peak at 10p/Kwh fixed until 2025.

Unfortunately it only works if BG fit the smart meter (existing smart E7 meters do not work!) They tell me they are working to fix this. I am not sure why electric cars are incentivised but not heating. Other than that you seem to be looking at 15p/Kwh for night rate.

Is there a list of compatible EVs? I want to check my daughter's Kona but it looks like she needs to apply to do that.

All EVs are compatible with Octopus Go (with a smart meter) which gives,

Night rate (00:30 - 04:30):
9p / kWh

Day rate (04:30 - 00:30):
30.6p / kWh

Standing charge:
47.95p / day

Im with Eon Next Flex E7, none smart meter.
34.164 day rate
11.964 night rate
55.594 standing charge.

Not the best rates out there id imagine but quite decent for the night if a charge is needed.

I meant intelligent now that the Zappi is approved. She is on go (and export at 8p) but intelligent seems more sensible with better export.

There is a checker here https://octopus.energy/intelligent-octo ... ibility/#/ but you might have to prod around a bit.

Hadn't expected it to be quite such a minefield, Octopus have such a plethora of rates. Yes IOG seems the best of them and my EV will qualify but I have some questions:

1. will it end up fighting with the settings on my Zappi charger (which is already quite complicated)
2. will it discharge my house battery (which I can probably prevent by setting a Scheduled Charge with notional SoC)
3. how does the cheap power for the house work out in practice, is it only 2330 - 0530 (which stops a bit early for my intended HP)?
