I had no idea - well thats not quite true, I saw the briefest flicker of lights then disregarded it.

Thats a test done that I was going to simulate but its done it for me.

I always open the curtains and put every light on in the house when that happens.

Yes, the Victron switchover is pretty seamless, less noticeable than some routine switching transients on the local supply.

I had been wondering for some time how to make it warn you so you can take appropriate action, both to avoid overloading the inverter and to prolong the endurance of the battery.

Finally the installation of an HP (hopefully soon, or at least this year!) has prompted me into fitting a box with a light and buzzer which will also turn off the HP automatically until I can get to its controls and put in into low noise low power mode. Why Vaillant can't provide an input for this beats me! Fortunately the Victrons have a built-in relay and aux output which together are ideal for this. Rest of circuitry goes behind the manual switch in an ordinary back box.

I don’t have the back up system yet, but we don’t get many power cuts unless I trip our system or blow the main fuse

hahaha if it happens at night I'll do that..

Maybe if I keep my Karcher close by to jetwash the car or bike during the day if there is a failure.

Yes, power cut what power cut! Just tell them you are on their priority service and don't get any power cuts.
